I read that Centipede either doesn't need fertilizer.

I need to do something to thicken the lawn and crowd out weeds.
There is grass coverage, but also many weeds.

Centipede like all grasses need fertilizer. Not necessarily buy the bag stuff if your soil has the right stuff. Take a sample and have it tested.

If you are going to use a weed killer make sure it is formulated for southern lawns like Centipede , Burmuda or St Augustine.

Many weed killers will kill Centipede.

Ortho Weed B Gon makes one. Scott's Bonus S is a fertilizer and weed killer.

If you live in the south you do not have a lot of choices. Blue Grass or Fescue will not tolerate southern summers.

Okay, it it is purty, too.
