Ceiling tile around sprinkler heads

I'm cutting out for sprinkler heads in ceiling tile and I just can't get the right measurement is there an easy way to do this??

If I have an unusual shape or cut I will often make a template out of cardboard, then transfer it onto the tile. There may be better/faster ways, but it works for me.
