Look up slap brush in the link that I provided to prior poster on same subject, then go to “how to do it”. End result in that section looks like yours. One thing to keep in mind is that if I do a California knockdown on our dining room....and someone else comes in and does same on your neighbors dining room, there will likely be some differences based on the individual Professional’s style...nothing major (like popcorn instead of knockdown) but small variations. Ya, getting a perfect texture match on repairs can involve a lot of trial and error. If you can get it close - feathering the texture over a bigger area usually helps. If you don't like the texture it's easy to wipe it off while dry or sand it down when dry and try again.
