ok, I thought maybe a quick diagram would help vs my pic above. Neal, yes that's exactly what I'm trying to do. Before I do that, I'm just trying to get back to what I had working before and then extend the box. On the switch it's just a white/blk wire which is connected to the Romex run up to the box.

In the pic above, I show the two white BX wires tied together. The two black/BX wires tied are tied off to the white/romex wire going back to the switch. That only leaves the black romex wire which was connected to the light (I can see the brown pigtail in my pic).

The neutrals are tied together with a pigtail that goes to the neutral screw on the light or if the light as a neutral wire it went to the 2 neutrals
