Hello all my name is Jon and I have a problem with my ceiling fan/light which is located upstairs in the master bedroom. The unit is 4-5 years old and the house we live in is only six years old. So the issue is the remote became sketchy at times but manually it would work fine then it up and quit working altogether. There is power to the room because all the other outlets work fine and I've tried shutting off the breakers for all of the upstairs and left it off for 5-8 minutes and flipped it back on but still didn't fix the problem. Also we've smelt no burning either. Thanks for any help that can come our way.

Most likely the battery is dead in the remote, and needs to be changed. Batteries only work so long, especially if you use the device continuously to change the fan settings.

Well it still lights up but even without the remote it doesn't doesn't work manually by pulling the cord for the fan and the light.

I'd start be tracing the electric. Does the unit have both power and neutral hooked up?
Pull off the escutcheon plate at the ceiling to see if it's wired correctly to there.

Yes, because the receiver connects between the wiring coming from the switch/feed to the fan. If it is shot, the fan will not work.

You can replace the receiver.

Ok you guys are awesome I removed the receiver (a little black box) it had a black and white wire going in and a black, white and blue wire going out. So the fan works but the light portion does not. Did I miss something?

Manually, the hook up would be black and blue together with the black coming in.
