If we have a light with 2 switches and 1 is a dimmer switch can we replace the light with a ceiling fan? Do we need a special ceiling fan or will anyone work? The guy at Menards said I only need to replace the dimmer switch with a 3-way fan control switch and then we can use any ceiling fan.

Your Menards associate is probably right. You would most likely have to replace the dimmer, as it probably isn’t rated for use with a fan. There’s a good chance you’d have to replace the light box in the ceiling with a box that is fan rated also. Menards carries ‘old work’ fan box kits. They come with a bar you mount through the ceiling hole, between the joist, then the box gets mounted to the bar. Easy DIY project. Shut off the power first, and take down the light to see what kind of box you have there now.
