We have a ceiling fan with lights that is controlled from a single wall switch, so we have used the pull chain to switch the light in the past. As I'm adding more and more smart switches in the house, I'm wondering if there's a way to put the fan and lights on separate smart controls without installing a double box and two smart switches and pulling another cable. Something on the order of a smart duplex switch that communicates to an electronic switch in the fan housing. The goal is to retain local manual control from the wall switch, as well as smart control through Google Home or Alexa.

While there are remote controls for ceiling fan/light fixtures that provide for individual control of the two circuits while only having a single feed from the wall switch, you won't be able to control it any other way than its own transmitter.

If that's satisfactory, check at any of the big box stores and you'll see what's available. Be warned that on some fans there isn't room in the ceiling canopy for the receiver unit of these devices.
