It is nor a fan rated box but if you screw the fan bracket to the wood in the ceiling then it isn't a problem. Usually we screw the bracket so the screws are just outside that pancake box.

With your configuration I would recommend a saddle box that is fan rated. Some localities don't allow pancake boxes due to space limitations for wires.

Ceiling fan boxes use #10 screws, not #8.
They make ceiling fan pancake boxes, but screwing the fan bracket directly to the joist is fine, too (as previously said).

You have an entire fan canopy. There is plenty of room, IMO.

My concern was "through" wiring that would exceed the pancake box's capacity. The saddle box takes care of that problem. He doesn't appear to have any , it is a moot point. Pancake away!!

I wold replace it with a straddle type fan box as chandler48 mentioned. I have installed two of them recently.
Your joist is already in the correct place.
