What do you think about SW bright white for ceiling paint color?

I started using SW Eminence flat stock ceiling paint. I Switched to Promar 200, and it was tinted to Extra White to match the Eminence stock color. After painting and seeing a side by side, its clear the tinted Promar is much bluer. I still have 80% of the ceilings to paint, considering a color tint switch.

Flat as stock white? Ive also heard good things about Sw snowbound...

Joe, the Bright White (SW) is a flat ceiling paint.

I've used a lot of SW's bright white ceiling paint and used to have great luck with Classic 99. THey changed the formula and now call it Brilliance which doesn't cover as well as the Classic 99 did. I would use the Promar 200 flat or the SuperPaint flat for ceilings.

I use super paint flat extra white it has a very slight sheen ,only if you look at it on an extreme angle. the extra white is my go to ceiling color ,and for that matter ill use the same extra white on trim but in a semi. Any who. imho pro mar 200 in a flat is junk . the other sheens are good but a flat :no:

Why the sky is blue. Against "bright" or super white, most whites look grayer.

Im using promar 200 flat... Im confused, I thought flat is the sheen not the color. Are you saying pm200 flat sheen with no tint?

The color makes no difference ( well somtimes but not much) but the sheen and how the light hits it is everything for showing flaws.
If you have west facing windows that come close to the ceiling, stand ther at the east end and look. bumps will become mountains.

Because a paint with any shine reflects light- it will have this effect in almost any light.

Sheen and color are two different things. The way it's being presented is confusing, nice kickoff joecaption.
Firstly, there is no standard white, as all whites are different. Even in the same brand the whites will differ, within the same and across the different lines. BM offers Brilliant White, Super White, Decorators White, etc. And that doesn't include the whites with a tint or shade, like Navajo White, Dove White, etc.
Some straight whites have higher a content of titanium dioxide, which would be brighter, purer whites. Others are shaded with black to increase hide, which makes them grayer in comparison to the purer whites. However, you wouldn't really be able tell they're grayed unless you compare them to pure white.
Some people confuse eggshell sheen with color, thinking eggshell is a color.

All colors can be made in all sheens, though massive amounts of tint even in a dead flat paint will create a sheen. Tint is not flat. For a ceiling the preferred sheen is flat. A dead flat, almost or zero sheen, will mask defects on a ceiling because it doesn't reflect light. I would disagree with Joecaption that a brilliant white will highlight defects. Pure white has little definition in itself, which would aid in hiding defined defects. Pure white will "snowblind" you when looking at a ceiling. Color adds definition.

Color does add definition.Most ceiling whites that I have used are a little bit darker than flat white of the same brand.I use flat white instead of ceiling whites because I like the ceiling to be as white as I can get it.Just my preference.

When I went to paint my ceilings I initially went with the SW ceiling paint in the stock color, but I found it to be much too stark. I went back and got it tinted to Alabaster instead, looks much better though it still reads as "white". If you compare the two colors the ceiling white is definitely a cool blue white.

Depends on the lighting in your house, though... most of my rooms don't get a lot of light and have warm-toned floor & wall colors. A lot of people choose to use a lighter version of the wall color on the ceiling as well, claiming white creates a sort of box top effect and makes the ceiling look closer than it really is.
