Do I need to remove tape after priming and caulking and re-apply prior to paint to avoid a caulk edge. If I don't remove tape and then paint, will I have a caulk edge after removal?

What are you using the tape for? It is not needed for most of an average painting project.

:laughing: I use a lot of painters tape because I want professional results but I am not a painter. I have some areas in my house that would be a challenge to a pro I believe. I have a butler's pantry with an extended hallway at end; it's about 6-8ft long and about 4ft wide. It has 3 doorways, an archway, floor to almost ceiling knick-knack shelves built in and a double cupboard built in from floor to almost ceiling. Many times I had to go back and repaint an area I hit with my body just turning around.
I'm so glad it wasn't the first area I ever tried to paint in this house or I probably would have stopped then. Lol. And of course, all this wood is painted a different color than the walls. The taping was fun.

That kind of area is exactly where most painters would not use tape; it takes too darned long to apply, then they have to paint. Get good tools, learn to use them and speed up your painting while taking your quality to a higher level.

Brushes: don't skimp. Get some good Purdy, Wooster or Corona. 3" sash brush and 2.5" slash cut, with a 1.5" slash for very small areas.

Maybe some others will chime in with more tips.
