I’m airless spraying my doors. Before I spray the jambs am I supposed to caulk the door stops? The gaps all seem tight and uniform.

Is caulking them necessary?

Sanding them smooth is definitely necessary.

If you fill the cracks and voids with paint there's a good chance it will open back up at a later date.

It doesn't take hardly any effort/time to do but it looks better, last longer, and sure beats redoing it.

Its not necessary, but caulking does act like a glue for the whole thing, and it looks a lot better.

IMO a nice job of caulking all the joints looks more professional than not caulking them.

I like all cracks filled with caulk, but, it's not necessary especially if those minimal shadows created by cracks don't bother you. To me, if a crack "grabs your eye" when you walk into a room, it should be filled.
