Hi everybody, I have new french doors with windows on either side. The problem is the distance from the outside of the door jam to outside of window jam is 4" (see pic). I want to use one piece of fluted casing between the door/windows but it comes in 4" and 5.25" widths. I seem to need about 4.75 to cover the jams with a slight reveal.

Any ideas. I can get custom millwork but that's very expensive. Should I lay a 4.75" wide piece of something .25" thick first then attach the casing?

Trim 1\4" off each edge of the 5.25" stock.

Question: why aren't you measuring from outside of the casing on the left? Looks like 5.25" stock with an 1/8" or 3/16" off of each side.

Depending on the shape of the casing you could trim the edges or split it down the middle and glue it back together.
