Hi, I have Carrier AC unit air handler model FK4CNFC002. The blower is not running. I found an intermittent thermostat fan line that was probably making the motor turn off and on a lot. The motor is a 1/2 HP GE with the markings CN02 2A17 on it. How do I verify if it is the motor or the attached control module that has the problem? Can the two parts be bought separately?

If it is an ECM motor then no, you have to buy the 2 parts together. They are tricky to troubleshoot as you need the factory technical info and a simulator. Best to call a Carrier tech. Sometimes the problem is that wiring harness and/or the circuit board. I doubt if you want to start expensive parts changing/guessing.

Best to have someone that knows how to diagnose that motor and module.Could also be the air handler control board. They're expensive to just replace until you get the right part.If its a ver 2.3, its probably out of warranty.if its a ver 2.5, its probably still in warranty. How old is the air handler.
