I had a Carrier Base, was extremely loud, it didn't even have anything on the compressor to resist against sound.

What is the difference between the Base Series and Performance Series in Carrier condenser, assuming I am speaking of the same SEER 16 rating equipments? There isn't a lot of information on Carrier's site beyond marketing fluff.
Also, has any one heard of this "Whipser Caller" technlogy that makes the condenser noise virutally disappear? A vendor touted about this on Carrier condensers but I can't find any information on the Web.

Carrier Base is 13 SEER and is builder grade equipment
Performance is 15 - 16 SEER, much quieter, better built

what about Comfort Series, is that something in-between or is it more like Base?
