Hi All,
I have a Carrier Weathermaker 9200 that is blinking code 31. When i plug the furnace in (to reset) the blower turns on for about 60 - 90 seconds. When the inducer motor is suppose to come on it doesn't. I can see that the motor is barely turning thru the back of the motor maybe 1 rpm every 2 sec. After the blower shuts off I can hear the inducer motor humming and trying to turn on. After a while it totally shuts off and blinks code 31.

Is the inducer motor bad? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

James

Could be as simple as a bad capacitor.
That's what give the motor a kick in the butt to get it started turning.
How would I go about checking that? Also is that the type of motor I could find at grainger?
I dont think those motors are cap start motors, are they Joe?

My inducer motor is 120V. If yours is, turn off main power, and wire it directly with a surge protector in line for a switch, and see if she spins up normally. If she does, motor is good, if not, motor bad. Go on ebay and see if you can find a used one. Those things are ridiculously priced. It is my understanding that it is a ***** to remove just the motor.
