Hello, I recently purchased a house and it has a Carrier Infinity system installed. I only have the manual for the thermostat. I am not what what all makes up the system. Does it have a heat pump? There is an option to have a cooling dehumidifier, but I am not sure what all is going on in the background when I turn that on. The house does get pretty humid. Not sure if I am doing something wrong with the AC unit or not.

The model number is fe4anb006. Can anyone point me to some help on that specific model?

An Infinity "system" is a combination of Thermostat + Indoor unit (gas furnace or electric air handler) + Outdoor unit (AC only or Heat Pump)....all wired on a communicating 4-wire ABCD Bus and sharing system information for best performance.

You have provided a p/n FE4ANB006 which is a communicating capable Air Handler, so most likely you have a Heat Pump outside. I would provide a model number for the outdoor unit, and the thermostat in order to get the best help. And note...an Infinity system can be wired up using traditional 24V inputs and outputs as an option. Pictures of your control boards with low voltage wiring would confirm how your install was done. Usually wiring it using the ABCD comm bus offers more capabilities.

There are many configurable system options, folks here may be able to help you look at your setups via the Thermostat and recommend potential changes ....or you might want to start a relationship with your area dealer and have him come in and work with you to set the system up to best meet your needs.

BTW, dehum setting usually just lowers the indoor blower speed when needed...and if you have a two-stage outdoor unit might drop the unit to low stage in order to increase run time for maximum dehumidification. Your thermostat will likely also have a humidity sensor that is part of the logic.

Thanks for the info. I looked for the part number on the outside unit but it isn't legible. I remember the realtor mentioning heat pump, so at least I know that much. Probably the best option is to call a local dealer. I feel a little silly asking questions about and ac unit, I figured I would just switch from ac to heat and set the temp :smirk:

Looking at the thermostat, I don't have a heating dehumidifier but do have cooling one if that makes sense. I can post pictures of the thermostat later.

You appear to have a pretty nice, high end system that was installed there.

I think it would be worth spending a few $ and the time to get with the servicing dealer and get the setup tweaked to your liking.
While I am waiting on getting someone to come out to inspect the system, can you share a little on what this option does? Let's say I set the temp in my house at 73. The AC unit will cool the house until it reaches 73. With the dehumidifier setting ON, will the AC still be running to cool the house lower than 73? I am interested in seeing how much this will effect my electric bill.

I'm not an expert on Infinity details, but I know a few of the Technicians that frequent here are and may be able to give you that answer.

On the communicating systems of other brands that I have been involved with, the system would be allowed to overcool by up to 2 degrees if Humidify was "ON" as it would take priority.

And again, likely the indoor blower speed CFM is being lowered by the system to help with longer run times.
