The new house we purchased had new carpet installed before we purchased it. The tack strip is sticking out on all the transitions and we have already cut our feet many times. There are a few places where the carpet is no longer attached, which I want to fix first. Any suggestions? I was thinking of installing the plastic transitions that you nail/screw down to hopefully cover the tack strips.
If the carpet has come loose you may need to rent a knee kicker to stretch the carpet back over the tack strips before you install the transition strip.
I thought of that but even in the areas where it is tight and not pulling back, the tack strip comes through. My son has cut himself a few times as well as family members that stop by and don't know to step over it. I used some of the wooden transitions pieces for the opening to our room and dining room but our living room has a 16 foot section that needs work. It is like I stated before where it is not coming up but the tack strip can cut you. Any ideas to fix this one without buying 3 6' sections of the same transition piece that might look bad not being seamless?
