You could probably get away with going all of the way up to the brick on that side of the boiler and still be safe, but I would leave the distance in front of the burners about where it is. Keep in mind that the carpet will most certainly get wrecked some day when something develops a leak, or when the relief valve pops off, or when someone needs to replace that pump.

Good thank you! That’s actually a good middle of the road answer for me. If it really bothers us we could always paint the uncovered portion to give it a more finished look.

The tiles aren’t glued down. They’re only adhered by the corners with 4 inch stickers and it’s totally floating. We’re very happy with the outcome.

If you have the manual it will give distances to combustible material.
