I used bleach - then oxalic acid - then some light sanding but cannot get rid of black stain in wood on window molding - suggested that i stain or paint but am reluctant to do that - the stain is on middle window of bay window - and would need to stain or paint entire window

see attached photo

any suggestions for fixing issue would be greatly appreciated

If non invasives don't work, then you probably have to scrape away stained wood. Paint scrapers. Lightly so you don't gouge or splinter the frame. Scrape some then try bleach again. Layer by layer. But it will come back unless the moisture problem is fixed. You could try soaking the scraped part with fungicide additives for paints.

I have a similar issue with a couple of my wood windows in my living room. I know the cause though, and it is from condensation during the winter. Moisture fogs up the window and then drips onto the bottom where it soaks the wood. Going to clean it up and then put a coat of poly on it as it seems that the original poly was put on really thin.

I also faced this issue.
there is no option without paint.
all other methods like erasing etc are time wastage.
I suggest you, paint it with wood color.
if do not do anything, it's not looking bad
thanks
