i can get a brand new husqervana , cub cadet , mtd lawn tractor in the 1,600- 1,800 price range , or i can get a 10 year old john deere for about 2,000 or so depending on the exact model . the money really isnt an issue between 1500 - 2500 but i cant decide if i want brand new or 10 year old john deere. some have briggs engines some have kawasaki's or kolers . i definately want a twin engine . i want to stay at about 48 inch deck cause my lawn has slopes . now the older one wont have sales tax or a warranty but its supposed to be higher quality . what would you do if you were chosing ?

heres a sample of whats out there hope the link isnt a violation .

There was a recent thread regarding choosing a mower in this class - search on John Deere and you will find it.

I have a John Deere 110, now for several years and have been very pleased with it.

The one in the ad has several attachments worth quite a bit of money I would think.

Okay, let's be perfectly clear on something... A used 325 John Deere will run CIRCLES around any of those other mowers you mentioned, and will do so for years! It is a completely different class of mower than any "new" mower you can get for under $2500. :)

If I were you, I'd jump on that John Deere package ASAP. Those Kawasaki engines are TOUGH. Also, you'll be able to sell that blower for $350-$400 this winter.

Hey wait a minute... Both my sons & their wives live in Mpls. Maybe I'll have one of them go get that rig for me. NEVER MIND!
