Coldiron: Not knowing mechanical skill of the poster and making that recommendation is dangerous IMO. If it is not properly retightened and checked for leaks, kaboom! Also, venting gas into the room could be dangerous if there is a source of ignition.
Aad724: If it is new, call back the installer and have them light it. It could be a defective igniter; I had a brand new gas dryer installed and the igniter was broken during shipping.
