I have a metal roof carport. It leaks from the seams. There are no holes in the top of the seams and no screws except were the metal flashing attaches. The metal flashing is under the shingles and extends 10 inches onto the metal roof so the open end of the seam is well under the metal flashing. All the screw heads have been checked and resealed. When it rains there is a steady drip from some of the seams. Also, it is not always the same seam. The one that dripped last time will not drip the next time, but another one will that did not drip before. The attached photo is the type of roof I have except mine does not have any screws on the flat portion as you can see in the photo.

when it rains and the water goes down hill, where the roof panels overlap side to side the water runs up and over those seems if there is any dirt sticking out from those seems, it acts like a ramp for the water..dont ask why I know...LOL..I hate heights and spent too much time ontop of my structures figuring that one out after going crazy like you checking everything 1o times...the top left of your picture you can see the lower panel sticking out uneven..thats one spot for the water to run up and over..

I understand what you are saying, but, the water runs away from the photo - down hill, not across the seams. Also, this photo is not my roof, just an example of the type of roof. Thanks for reply

I know that....I said the metal panels overlap both up and down and side to side, the side to side seem is the issue, not the horizontal seem but the vertical seem..on the left of the picture do you see the gap going from top of roof down to bottom of roof? that is where the water is getting under the seems..the ribs are running top to bottom..

sounds like you need new butyl tape in the seams

your roof should have screws in the flat area you mentioned these screws hold the decking on. the only place you should have screws on the ridges is where the seems connect.

i have no idea what this guy is saying but this is what the tape looks like
