I am finishing a basement and was wondering if anyone has used pole wrap to wrap there support pole in the basement. And also put an electrical outlet in it? is this possible. Is there code against it?

Thanks

I don't know if "pole wrap" is a common term or a commercial product, but I see no reason not to have a receptacle in a column.

Pole wrap doesn't have enough room for a flush outlet.

You can of course put a surface mount outlet in a metal box with a metal conduit sleeve... If you can get a screw into the pole wrap solidly enough to secure everything.

But that's going to be kind of ugly and defeat the purpose of pole wrap in the first place.

And don't get any bright ideas about cutting holes in your basement poles... You'll compromise their strength.

Thanks for your input GIGS. Yeah I wouldn't even think about cutting the pole. I'm an engineer and I know that would not be good!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again gigs.

Looks like I will have to frame it.
