I have some weeds growing in my yard. One I think is a thistle as it's so bristly you cant touch it. The other is a climbing vine which suddenly popped up after living here 9 years. It's covering 2 bushes and is going up the house.

Well it's better than the thistle that keeps popping up =]. This one was hiding in my azaleas until recently. I'm waiting until it's not 90 degrees to go yank it out. They like to hide in my ground cover too.

I agree that the vine looks like grape. The weed is groundsel. Thistles have a round ball flower.

I didn't think groundsel had horribly thorny stems.
