I am in the process of putting a ceiling up in my pole barn and I found one of the metal plate connectors on an end truss starting to crack (possibly pulling away) from the 2x6 bottom chord it is attached to. Based on some surface evidence this cracking is at least a year old, and maybe even older (I bought the place back in 2006 and it could have been cracked then, don't know, but I know it's at least a year old).

Please take a look at the pics and let me know your thoughts as to possible fixes. You can see the crack in the "overall pic" at the bottom of the "cross". Thank you.

If I had to venture a guess or two mine would be that was damaged in shipment or as it was going up, not from any stress.

The only way to repair it is with a dutchman,or sometimes called a bowtie,it's not in the best position to make the repair,but the only way i know of.

It's hard to tell for sure from the pictures but perhaps carefully jack it up level then band it with steel strapping.

If you have a local truss builder perhaps they can inspect it and offer an engineered repair option.

Force some carpenters glue inside the cracks, jack it up to close up the crack. Put a whole lot of PL 400 on the face of that 2x and then sister a 2 x next to it. Bolt the two together with some 3" lag bolts. You will never have another problem with it.
