Hello,

I am in process of installing an acrylic shower pan. I need to install a rubber caulk seal gasket between shower pan drain and 2" PVC pipe.
The installation manual says:

" Lubricate both caulk seal gasket (1) and drain pipe (2) with either liquid hand soap or dishwashing liquid, and slide the caulk seal gasket over the drain pipe."

Can I ( or, Do I need to) use some pipe dope between rubber gasket and shower drain and PVC pipe for better sealing?

Thanks

No need for pipe dope. You'll find that the reason for the soap is because the fit is extremely tight and impossible to slip together without the lubricating effect of the soap. No need to worry about it leaking once it's together.

The reason I ask is because the PVC pipe is not plumb. There is a small angle between the pipe and the shower pan drain. The best thing would be to redo the plumbing underneath of the pan, but it is almost impossible due to some space limitations. So, I want to try to install the gasket as it is.
