I have a rather ancient 39" Roper gas wall unit. I can't find anything like it online. Will I be able to find a new replacement for it?
It sits on top of a cabinet, has a cabinet above it, and a counter to the right.
This diagram from the booklet gives an idea of what the space looks like.
Short answer, probably not. Unless you go to swap meets and the like. Or to retro/refurbished mid-century appliance stores.
Unless you are trying to renovate a mid-century modern home in an area full of similar homes, why would you want to? All I see is wasted space and inconvenience.
Get a modern retro looking gas range. They come in pretty much any size you want and put a matching range hood over it. I would suggest NOT putting an over the range microwave over the stove. A gas stove needs more space above it than an electric range for an OTR microwave and it looks a bit funky.
That is my $0.27 worth (after tax license and dealer handling it comes out to about 2 1/4 cents depending on jurisdiction...)
