Can I put a vinyl tub surround on DensShield backer board

I want to put a 5 piece tub surround over DensShield backer board. Should I use PL 700 or thin set to stick it on? Is it O.K. to put vinyl on the backer board?

What I want to do is (glue) a vinyl tub surround to DensShield backer board. What I want to know is, will the PL 700 that comes with the surround kit adhere to the backer board? Will thin set used for tile adhere to the vinyl? What's the best route. The tub is an old metal type (not cast)

Thanks. Had pretty much decided to go that route although I may still decide to tile the damn thing
