Can i apply unsanded grout over sanded grout?

On the tile above bath/shover enclosure and floor tile I used Mapei sanded grout. I was told to use sanded grout but to me it seems a bit rough and probably will be hard to clean. Question is can I go over it with unsanded grout? The grout has not been sealed yet so I don't see why not bcos the surface is rough.

Not a good idea, and may not stick anyway.

You say the sanded is rough, how rough?
Got pics? My sanded grout comes out pretty smooth, yours may be the same. Supposedly you used sanded because the joints was 1/8 or wider. So, it should be sanded. It may get a little smoother as time passes.
