Does anyone know if I can apply Kilz Restoration (formerly Kilz Max) water based primer with a Wagner Flexio 4000 spray gun? If I can, and I'm assuming I can, should I dilute with water, and if so, how much? Other oil based Kilz products suggest diluting with 1.5 cups of water per gallon for spray application but I'm wondering if that's necessary or even counterproductive with this water-based primer. Application is for old plaster walls with a gazillion spackled paneling nail holes. Thanks in advance for any help and I hope all are healthy and staying busy.

I rarely ever use latex Kilz and while I have a good bit of spray experience non of it is with homeowner type units. The odds are a small unit like that would need the paint thinned, you might need to experiment to see how much it needs to be thinned in order to spray properly.

thanks to all. I'm starting to think I'll just use a roller. Already bought 3 gallons so this is what I'm going with. BTW I emailed Kilz and here's what they answered:

Thank you for contacting Kilz. Our Restoration Primer can be applied with an airless sprayer (60 Mesh/ .017-.021 tip). If needed, the primer can be thinned with up to 8 oz of water per gallon.

thanks again. be well.
