I have a 3 way switch, but can I add a single pole switch off of the 3 way switch that power is coming into? Can I just splice the black wire and add a tail and join the white wire to the other two with a nut?

This new switch needs to operate the one light on its own.

Thanks. I was just worried it wouldn't have constant power since I couldn't find any example online. I figured this would be pretty common.

As long as you have power at that box, it would not work at the other switch.
