I reluctantly bought Behr deck stripper.

Came home tried four test patches. They were relatively successful, after power washing and a TON of scrubbing.

Deck repairman told me I was wasting my time so I rented a sander, which was easy and I finished quickly.

However, the four test patches are completely, obviously, glaringly stained a darker color - even after sanding repeatedly.

This was two days ago, so the wood should be dry.

Does deck stripper actually stain wood??? How do I fix this?

Yes it does darken wood. Generally an oxalic acid based brightener is used after stripping to counteract the darkening as well as neutralize the ph of the wood.

Check the directions on the stripper you used. Most likely it will call for such a product to be used.
