I know the big box stores match Benjamin Moore colors but does it work the other way around (i.e. can BM match a Lowes/Valspar color)? If not, is there a way to find the closest match?

I'm interested in Shark Loop by Valspar but want BM paint.

For the most part, all the paint stores have the formulas and can match anybody else's color. Sometimes the color won't be 100%, so definitely bring in a HD color card and make sure they paint it on there and dry it so you can see the color.

There could also be an issue with certain colors. I know, for example, Sherwin-Williams cannot make bathroom paint in deep colors because they don't have a base for it.

IMO, the software at BM is far better than Lowes or HD. They also have a lot of deep bases.

It may not be a 100.00000% perfect scientific match, but it will be so close you'll never know the difference.
