We are redoing the fencing around about half of our horse farm in upstate NY and parts are going to be electrobraid.

This is the charger we will be using:

http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/electrobraid-50-mile-ac-low-impedance-charger?cm_vc=-10005

A few questions:

1) can I run the AC from the barn, buried, in standard gray carlon conduit and simply glue up the pipe joints?

2) are there any depth specifications for this type of burial application?

Thank you
As I am from Australia the rules may be different there but -

1) usually no, they use high density conduit for underground use.
it's orange in color not grey.

2) Yes there are depth minimums,
you should check local laws as they tend to vary.

Yes you can use grey PVC electrical conduit. The wire must be rated for wet location. Burial depth depends on the amperage. The minimum would be 12" for a 15 or 20 amp circuit that is GFCI protected before it enters the ground.

Fortunately for me, the two locations I will be exiting the barn for this project have GFCI outlets in all-weather enclosures... I was hoping to come out the other end of the GFCI to power these two legs...

Currently it is setup, breaker -> gfci -> gfci (perhaps this is wrong but when i read the instructions it said if you want to use more than one on a single breaker you need to wire them back to back)

Providing my GFCI are wired up properly, can I simply tie into it like this?

breaker -> gfci -> pond and other gfci -> fence

If you connect to the load terminals of the existing GFCIs you can use regular weather proof receptacles at the far end. Only concern is the length of the new line.

A receptacle wired downstream of the load terminals of a given receptacle or a girl breaker will have given protection.

Longest run would be ~50 feet from the barn to the pond. At the pond all we use is a small submersible pump (that feeds a garden hose) to fill water buckets/troughs... The GFCI's are wired with 12/3

I love auto correct, "girl breaker"😜 Does that mean you spank her with a GFCI breaker?😩

Is there a reason you are not putting the charger in the barn and just running the lead out wire to the fence ?
Yes, for the perimeters we are using no-climb and running braid on the interiors so I need to get power out to the lead braid pole...

I suppose I could have the installers run a lead for me but that's added cost for me where as I already have a ton of conduit, 12/3 burial rated wire and in-laws willing to take the kids so I can put the work in myself =)

Why do you need two GFCI's.

One will do !
I have one already on each side of the barn for bucket heaters in the winter

So, as it ended up a single 1 joule fencer was enough for the entire system so I mounted this enclosure:

...next to the outdoor GFI in the back and used some blind rubber grommets on the bottom to pass through the wires

I'll still need to get power up the pond for the pump but my immediate need for the fence is done!

Thanks =)
