I'm going to be spray priming some FJ trim, MDF window sills, and pre-primed Masonite doors here in the next week or so in my new basement. In the past I've always used an oil-based primer like ICI Stain Jammer or Zinsser Cover Stain on bare wood, but I'm considering using the 1-2-3 because I could go ahead and use it on my new drywall at the same time. What do you guys think about the water-based product on the trim? Should I be concerned about the grain raising? Other things to look out for?
The odor and cleanup of the oil products doesn't bother me, and I recycle enough that the environment can take the hit this one time. I'm mostly looking at saving some time if there aren't any disadvantages. Let me hear your opinions. Thanks.
