We installed a pendant light over the kitchen sink. The first bulb [one of those fancy round ones with the tiny screw-in part] lasted about 6 weeks before burning out. The second one burned out with only a couple of hours of usage. Do we have a wiring problem or are these little bulbs just not as long-lasting as the others? BTW, there was no noise, no smoke or smell when it burned out, it just quit. :(

The bulbs shouldn’t be blowing out that fast. You sure the bulb is seated fully? I’d also suggest taking the fixture down and making sure that the connections are proper and secure, and look for any nicks in the wiring. Start by eliminating things like that.

only about four reasons a bulb burns out prematurely-

1 vibration
2 cheap mfg.
3 bad connection
4 improper voltage (does it get brighter sometimes?)

If you have small Halogén bulb make sure you keep it clean otherwise they can induct a early failure as well.
