We have just built a patio that features a large low lying boulder in the center with gravel around it. The rocks are part of a ledge so much of the ground around the base of the visible boulder is rock. We would like to build an 18" wading pool around the stone as the center of the patio but not sure how to attach concrete around it since we would be pouring concrete over the ledge.

Any thoughts? Concrete blocks with rebar driven into the ledge? We will hire a mason but trying to understand if it can be done.

We do not want to use a liner because that would cover the beautiful boulder.

Need a picture, we don't know, anything more than you stated, and that is vague.

Size of this boulder, is the boulder sitting on bedrock, or dirt?

A good concrete crew, can use makeshift forms to "freestyle", a double ring around this boulder, to create a wading trough, in circle form.

we'd outline perimeter w/white paint & place conc right up against 'boulder',,, rebar into ledgerock & cmu's mortared into position,,, pool plaster interior finish,,, seal joints w/non-sag polyurethane for watertightness
