I live in Southern California and due to the drought and gophers that liked our green grass, we have a dirt yard prone to weeds.
I don't have a problem spraying them and weed whacking them to get it back down to dirt, but I just don't know what to do with the space. More importantly, we may have our house reappraised to better our loan terms, but I think a nice front yard would help so I need to do it first.
So any design ideas for a budget, drought tolerant, gopher prone yard?
I'll probably hire someone to take care of the gophers, but I think it will be an on going thing as the neighbors yards will probably serve as the breeding grounds and then..they'll be back. :vs_mad:
I was thinking nice wood chip mulch, but I know only mulch will not make it look good.
Thanks
Update: The yard is ~800 sq ft. And I have already built a nice wooden fence for it. Just needs some paint or stain to make it look new again
