Broken concrete wall exterior outlet

So the thing just smashed right off and now the holes in the block wall are enlarged. Any advice on how to reattach it back? It looks like someone used nails before.

It looks as though the wall is not solid concrete so you may be able to cut out the space for the outlet and finish it with some patch cement available at most home improvement stores. I would also suggest you talk with a cement product retailer to get their opinion. Other than that, the option might be to attach a solid plate over the hole and attach a new electrical outlet to the plate.

I would drill new holes in the corners of the box into the wall and use tapcon crews.

Sound like an idea. I was also perhaps thinking of maybe two metal straps or a larger outlet perhaps.

Ayuh,.... A couple of straps, with the tap-cons outside the box,..??

Hyd. grout mixed to a paste consistency can be packed into the failed concrete areas to restore the flatness of what's there,.....
sprayed-on coating over block ? to 'finish' use plastic grocery store bags scrunched up into a wad,,, nothing will come as close to the original texture

Thanks , I'm not really fussed about matching the texture. The outlet is outside in the Lanai area.

Yes, I was thinking a couple of straps on the outside, won't look right that's for sure but will keep it in place is my thinking. Or an outlet that has screws on the outside corners if they make one?

i'd repair it 1st using rapid-set cement THEN use tapcons to reattach it,,, straps would look like hack work,,, but that's just me - looks like cmu rather than conc
Anything wrong with some construction adhesive?

That's how I would fix it, after scraping off all the loose stuff.

Push something heavy against the box to keep it in place while the adhesive dries and you're good to go, Limey.

I'm familiar with the brand Liquid Nails from the Home Depot. I would use a heavy-duty variety for exterior use.
if using glue were correct material, why didn't the original workers use it ?
