I have a Kenmore gas range. model 790.78813402

Recently, when I turn on the broiler, which is on the top of the oven, the igniter glows, gas comes out, but it does not light right away, resulting in the oven filling up with gas and then finally igniting, causing a small explosion in the oven.

After searching around, I didn't find a recall and I think I may have narrowed it down to a faulty broiler element.

Should I try replacing the element and see if that fixes the problem?

You have found the golden goose, sir.

First, make sure the thing is faulty.

Next, get an expensive house and fill it with priceless antiques.

Remove the antiques. Store them somewhere else. These should all be flammable by the way. And of course insure everything.

Now, put some steaks in the broiler, open the door a bit, and leave to get some beer at the grocery store.

Repeat as necessary until you come home to a pile of ashes.

If you really want to see something, do this when a hurricane is bearing down on you.

I guess I should mention that if this doesn't work the first few times, you should turn off the gas and let it dissipate before you enter the house.

Glow igniter will be a replaceable part.

It glows hot enough to ignite the gas. Sometimes they will glow red, but will not glow hot enough.
