Hi,

This is my first post. I'm buying a house in McKinney, TX. It is less than one year old and seems in good shape. I was making an offer and stopped when saw this on the brick wall. It runs from the top to the bottom of the wall in one single line and it fells like epoxy. Is that normal? Again, it is a 2008 construction.

Thank you in advance

what those guys said goes for me, too,,, btw, its not epoxy but a joint sealant,,, there should be backer rod behind it so there's no 3-sided adhesion,,, imagine this is a long home - normally find expansion jnts on commercial/institutional work

That is some crappy brickwork, and whoever chose the color for the caulk in the the expansion joint is not only colorblind but stupid, but the joint itself is a good thing.

I didn't really want to mention the crappy brickwork, but yes, it atleast needs an acid bath. And BTW I am partially colorblind and I noticed how bad the choice of caulk was. :(

ooooooooooooooooo, MAJOR no-no, jimmy , UNLESS you injected the crks w/hydrophyllic polyurethane while they were leaking,,, realize that's a pro designation but nothing at an apron store would've done the job permanently,,, ' so far ' just means leaks either haven't returned in the same place OR found another path into your very fine bsmt.

we all know ( most of us, anyway  ) the 4 rules of wtr: 1, it runs downhill; 2, seeks its own level; 3, takes the path of least resistance; & 4, rush's to fill a void ( try making a hole in a bathtub of water if you don't believe me ! ),,, correctly done, there's no ' ugliness ' to be seen BUT, if not, ' ugly ' will have a MUCH MORE intense definition & expensive resolution
