Brick veneer

I'm cutting some old brick for a back splash in the kitchen. I'm not sure what would be the best sealer for it. It wont be above the stove but will be above the sink and rest of the cabinets. Also what width would you suggest to cut the brick?

The thickness of your cut will have a lot to do with the quality of the brick. A good brick can be sawn lengthwise (ripped) much thinner than a lousy brick.

The vibration from the saw blade will break cheaper bricks down.

The thinner you go, the less mortar you'll have to use to "grout" between
