What's the best way to attach a brick veneer across a 2-inch air space to a Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) wall, with 7/16-inch exterior sheathing? There are no studs, so you're simply attaching to the sheathing. I'm looking at using 2-pc. brick anchors, not corrugated ties, but don't know if I should nail or screw, or what the spacing of fasteners should be. One SIP manufacturer said simply, "Put in twice as many brick ties as you would for a wood stud wall."; Another SIP manufacturer gave me nail & screw pull-out values tested on their SIP, but without an engineer, how do you know what pull-out value you need? Is there a rule of thumb?
