This question could go anywhere between construction, insulation and or siding so here it goes.

I'm building a new house and my Jeld-Wyn windows came with a build in brick mould that has a channel for vinyl siding behind it. I wasn't thinking about possibly putting insulation board on the outside of the house and how that would affect the spacing. The least thickness of foam board you can get it 1/2" and all that's really going to do is raise the R value by 1 maybe 2 and kill any extra airflow. Even then, I'm not really sure if it's going to allow the siding to slide behind the that trim and it's molded as part of the window. There's no taking it off.

So...any ideas or just leave the foam board off?

Install a 1/2" wood nailer around the window and install the window.

Dried in meaning the windows are installed? If you framer knew you were installing foam on the exterior and did make provision for it, he is a hack.

Framers are not mind readers, but we would do it because we install the windows. :wink2:
