I have my breaker panel in a cabinet. It is a 6 foot tall 24 inch deep by 3 feet wide cabinet.

I have a Main disconnect outside next to the entrance.

Is it legal to be situated this way since there is a MAIN Disconnect located properly outside?


I need input fast. The house is under contract to be sold and the inspector will be coming.
I bought the house this way and we bought as-is. Therefore no inspector reviewed this before.

Your location will make a difference, but I see nothing wrong with it myself

For new ones, I think you need 36" in front.

It also can't be in a clothes closet--so if the cabinet has a rod for hanging clothes, for example, at least take the rod out. (See this thread: http://www.electriciantalk.com/f5/panel-closet-45974/)

But it may matter *when* it was put in, because the rules changed over time and it just has to meet the rules for when it was put in.
