I am installing a Bosch dishwasher. The installation manual says to drill a hole for the water, drain, and electrical lines. It says to keep it at the back bottom...2.5” from the back and no higher than 7” from the floor. It seems like in the manual, they are using a 2.5” hole saw, but I don’t know how that would fit. If I drill at that location, part of my hole would hit the back frame of the cabinet, and I’d have almost like a half circle. I was assuming that I would just drill one hole for everything, but now I’m wondering if they should be separate. If anyone could give me some advice on this, I would really appreciate it. I have the drain line, power cord, and braided stainless line that I need to route through.

The 2 1/2" hole will handle all three. If your frame keeps you from drilling completely through, you can move if forward to clear it. Drilling through the side wall AND through the edge of the frame is not a game breaker.

Back of your dishwasher fits flat against the back wall. That’s why they are having you drill the hole that low. Otherwise you won’t be able to put the dishwasher all the way in. You can drill two holes if you like. One right at the bottom inside the dishwasher area and then another at the bottom of the cabinet closest to the dishwasher. That will allow it to turn easily and you can pull the drain in as you install it. You could drill 3 smaller holes as well if you didn’t have a bit that size. Just looks neater with one hole. If you go the 3 hole route make sure the holes aren’t tight against the pipe

I've installed two Bosch dishwashers similar to what they recommend in the manual.

Yes, the dishwasher fits close to the back wall, but there is in inset at the bottom of the unit which allows the drain line and wiring to pass unobstructed.

Drill the hole in the bottom back corner from INSIDE the cabinet - as close to the back as possible, and right at the inside cabinet bottom surface. That will place it as far back as possible to allow front-to-back and top-to-bottom clearances, and you will not end up with any partially round holes.

Thanks. That’s exactly what I ended up doing. I thought the instructions were worded a bit strangely.
