For electrical, Electrical Wiring Residential, by Ray Mullin, 16th edition covers 2008 NEC. Similar books on plumbing online or Borders, Barns/Noble. Not sure on block houses, you don't see that much anymore, not energy efficient.

Check out HUD information on block homes. Not that long ago they did a study on all block construction for homes. Block homes ARE very energy efficient if constructed properly. A block home will out perform a stick built house in almost every way. It is an excellent method of building if done right.

If you're going to have to learn a whole new system anyway, why not drag yourself all the way into the 21st century?

Check out this... http://www.eco-block.com/

Look under Product Information (Installation Manual)

Might as well build the way all the progressive companies are already going. It beats both block and wood, hands down!
