I was looking at some new homes in the Dallas area
and saw the builders had sprayed a ''blue'' product to
the bottom 4' of the studs. Any ideas?

yup its borate.. a perfeclty safe chemical treatment,

we have it here where the entire peice of wood is treated. its trade name is literally "blue wood".. mike holmes uses it regularly on his show
