What you took up was probably linoleum. Felt, tar paper and even newspaper were sometimes used underneath. I doubt the padding had asbestos in it.
Blue Felt-Like Padding Under Sheet Vinyl
We just bought a house and ripped up the sheet vinyl in the bathroom in order to lay a new floor. As we were taking it up, we found some blueish felt like material that was laid underneath the vinyl and on top of the subfloor. Could this be asbestos? Anyone familiar with what it could be? The flooring is probably the original floor laid in 1964 or so.
