blower not turning on

The blower does not come on all the time on my grandaire heat pump. If I open the inside unit and push the side of the blower relay it comes on. Sometimes it goes off right away and I press on the relay again it the blower comes back on. Other times when I press on it the blower stays on. Some times it works as it is supposed to without having to press on the relay. Does this sound like I need a new relay? Is there a way to test the relay to see if it is defective? No money right know for repairman. I appreciate any advice.
